China is a vast nation that covers a large territory in eastern Asia. It is also the most populated country in the world. China is divided by two different political entities: the People's Republic of China(PRC) and the Republic of China(ROC). The People's Republic is commonly known as Communist China, or just China. It has control of mainland China and the larger self-governing territories of Hong Kong and Macau. Where as the Republic is known as Nationalist China, or Taiwan.
China's Population Centers
China's major population centers include the North China Plain and the Shandong Peninsula. Which is an area smaller than Texas with more people than the U.S. Also the Sichuan basin is one of China's populous areas. However it's a Michigan-sized area with 100 million people. And the Yangtze River area is where 150 million people live.
